Isaiah Burt

CBT and Dungeon Master

My Story

Please allow me to introduce myself! I am Isaiah Burt, CBT. I have one and a half years of experience working in the field of ABA, and I’ve loved every moment of it. I bring an enthusiastic, can-do attitude to every session with every client while also meeting the client where they’re at. I am particularly passionate about bringing games into the therapy space. As you no doubt saw from my title, North Star has given me the honor, privilege, and responsibility of running a Dungeons & Dragons game for our clients. In our gaming sessions, they deepen their relationships with one another, learn social and problem-solving skills, and learn how to regulate through the difficult emotions in a safe environment where they have the freedom to play and experiment. I do this as one who is not only a CBT, but also a lifelong player and developer of games. I’ve played a number of different tabletop games in both casual and competitive contexts, and I’ve also contributed professionally to roleplaying games such as Pathfinder First Edition and Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. All the best relationships in my life started through gaming, and it is from gaming that I learned so much about how to navigate the challenges presented by the world. My own experience and my reading of the empirical research about the therapeutic effects of gaming have made me a stalwart believer in the power of games to teach and heal while evoking joy through safety. Finally, I am a lifelong resident of Kitsap County, and I am proud to be giving back to the community that I grew up in.

When I am not doing ABA or playing games, I can often be found studying, writing, cooking, or practicing swordplay.

It would be an honor to work with you and your child. I can’t wait to meet you!
